AI Gimbal Track during Manual Flight
FlytBase now supports AI-powered Gimbal Track during Manual Flight for DJI Dock 3. Operators can manually fly the drone while the gimbal automatically tracks a selected person or vehicle. Using DJI’s native onboard AI detection, the system keeps the chosen target centered in the camera frame, even as the drone is repositioned.
This capability is especially useful during dynamic security and monitoring operations, such as following moving vehicles across large perimeters, tracking individuals through expansive sites, or adjusting position for a better vantage point without losing visual lock. By enabling manual flight and AI-driven tracking to operate simultaneously, it reduces operator workload and ensures continuous, stable tracking during active missions.
Key Capabilities
AI-Based Target Selection
Gimbal tracking is driven by Dock 3’s onboard AI detection.
People and vehicles are automatically detected in the live camera feed
Operators initiate tracking by clicking on a detected target
The system continuously updates gimbal orientation as the target moves
Tracking persists until the operator deselects the target or exits manual control.

Continuous Gimbal Tracking During Manual Flight
Once a detected person or vehicle is selected, the gimbal remains locked on the target while the drone is manually flown.
Automatic gimbal orientation to keep the selected target centered
Tracking remains active while changing position, altitude, or direction
Reduced need for manual gimbal yaw and pitch adjustments
This allows operators to reposition the drone freely without losing visual lock on the subject.

Manual Flight While AI Gimbal Track
To enable gimbal tracking while flying, Enhanced Manual Control must be active. When enabled, manual flight inputs do not interrupt gimbal tracking behavior.
This ensures:
Manual flight control remains responsive and predictable
Gimbal tracking continues uninterrupted during repositioning
Operator attention stays on flight control and environment awareness

Enabling Gimbal Track During Manual Flight
Open Settings
Go to Flight configuration
Select Drone manual control mode
Choose Enhanced manual control
Once enabled, gimbal tracking will remain active during manual flight when a target is selected.
