# Enhanced Manual Control

FlytBase now supports **Enhanced Manual Control** for DJI Dock 2 and Dock 3, providing a direct, stick-like manual flight response.

This additional control option sits alongside the existing speed-based manual control and delivers more immediate and proportional response to operator inputs, making manual flight feel more intuitive and responsive.

Enhanced Manual Control is especially useful during dynamic situations such as tracking moving subjects, avoiding obstacles, and rapidly repositioning the drone.

### Key Capabilities

#### Direct Manual Control Response

Enhanced Manual Control provides a more direct and responsive manual flight experience. Instead of converting inputs into target speed commands, the drone responds immediately and proportionally to how much control is applied.

* Immediate response to operator input
* Smooth, proportional movement based on input intensity
* Reduced delay from intermediate control processing

This results in a control feel that closely matches flying with a physical RC controller, making manual flight more intuitive and predictable.

### Enabling Enhanced Manual Control

1. Open **Settings**
2. Go to **Flight configuration**
3. Select **Drone manual control mode**
4. Choose **Enhanced manual control**

#### Speed Configuration Using Low and High Control Sliders

Manual flight speed is configured using percentage-based control sliders, which cap the drone’s maximum speed relative to its capability rather than defining an exact speed.

* The **blue slider** controls **Low speed mode**
* The **yellow slider** controls **High speed mode**

For example, setting a slider to **50%** limits movement to up to 50% of the drone’s maximum available speed when that mode is active.

Operators can switch between **Low** and **High** speed modes during flight by:

* Pressing the **X key**, or
* Selecting the mode from the **Manual Control menu**

This allows quick transitions between precise, controlled movement and faster repositioning.

Changes made on the **Settings** page do not automatically apply to your current **Operations** or **Cockpit View** session. After updating speed values or peripheral preferences in **Settings**, you must **refresh your Operations/Cockpit View page** for the changes to take effect.

This is important: the Settings page opens in a separate view. Simply switching back to Operations/Cockpit View after making changes is **not** sufficient—you must explicitly refresh the page (browser refresh, **F5**, or the reload button).

**Workflow:**

1. Open **Settings → Flight Configuration**
2. Configure enhanced manual control mode
3. Refresh your **Operations/Cockpit View** page
4. Settings are now active

#### Updated Control Terminology

To reflect the new behavior, control labels have been updated:

* Throttle → **Vertical Speed**
* Pitch & Roll → **Horizontal Speed**
* Yaw → **Rotation Speed**

#### Input Device Behavior

* **Joystick / Gamepad:** Full proportional/analog control from 0% to active cap
* **Keyboard:** Binary input at the active cap; Low cap recommended for precision
* **Mouse:** Workflow unchanged; response is more immediate

### Legacy Manual Control Deprecation

Legacy manual control will be **deprecated three weeks after this release**.

* Both modes are available during the transition period
* After deprecation, all manual control will use Enhanced mode
