The Annotations feature within the FlytBase platform has received a significant upgrade, introducing new capabilities that bring structure, scalability, and clarity to how drone teams visualize and manage mission-critical geospatial information.

Previously designed for single-point tagging, the new Annotations system now enables more powerful organization, visual control, and integration with external planning tools — making it ideal for complex, multi-site operations.

Key Enhancements

Grouped and Layered Annotation Management

Users can now organize annotations withing Groups and Sub-Groups, enabling clear categorization based on regions, assets, operations, or teams. This helps streamline large-scale annotation workflows and improves map-level clarity across multiple concurrent operations.

Import Support for KML/KMZ

With the addition of support for .kml and .kmz files, teams can now bring in pre-existing annotations from legacy systems or mission planning tools — reducing duplication and aligning on standardized layouts.

Icon and Color Customization

FlytBase now supports an expanded set of default annotation icons (e.g., hazard, fire, personnel) along with the ability to upload custom icons in .svg format. This allows teams to visually align annotations with internal SOPs or incident response standards. The color palette has also been extended for enhanced visibility and annotation categorization.
