FlytBase AI-R: Automated Gimbal Tracking
Gimbal Track automates visual tracking of moving objects detected by AI-R, allowing the drone to hover in a fixed position while the camera autonomously follows a selected target. This eliminates the need for constant manual gimbal adjustment, enabling operators to focus entirely on evidence capture and situational assessment.
Key Capabilities and How to Use It
Gimbal Track is designed for security and surveillance operations where maintaining continuous, stable visual lock on a moving subject is critical.
Automated Tracking
Once activated, the system takes over camera orientation, smoothly adjusting the gimbal's pitch and yaw to keep the selected target centered in the frame.
Hands-Free Operation: The drone remains stationary and hovers in place, freeing the operator to manage media capture (photo/video) while the system tracks.
Zoom Preservation: The zoom level is preserved from the moment tracking is enabled, ensuring consistent footage quality throughout the pursuit.
How to Enable Gimbal Track
Prerequisite: Ensure AI-R detection (people and/or vehicle) is active.
Position: The drone must be airborne and the target must be visible in the zoom camera view.
Zoom: Set your desired zoom level before starting the track, as this setting will be maintained.
Enable Auto Tracking: Turn on the Auto tracking option within the AI detection menu.
Select the target: To start Gimbal tracking, click on the AI-detected object you want to track in the video feed.
Stop tracking: Tracking stops automatically if you switch to IR or wide-angle camera mode, or if you issue a movement command (GTL, mission resume, or manual controls). You can also use the stop button to end Gimbal Track at any time.
When to Use Gimbal Track
This feature significantly enhances documentation quality in scenarios that demand stable, centered visual evidence.
Active Surveillance: Maintain a continuous visual lock on a person or vehicle of interest as they move through the area.
Perimeter Breach Response: Immediately lock onto a detected intruder upon an AI-R alert.
Evidence Collection: Capture stable, centered footage of subject actions for incident reporting and movement pattern analysis.
Hardware and Firmware Requirements
Hardware Compatibility: Supported on DJI Dock 1, Dock 2, and Dock 3 (requires the FlytBase AI-R hardware unit).
Firmware Requirement: Gimbal Track requires AI-R firmware v1.0.5 or above.
